Belami BA-727 Spring Mounted Analogue Watch
Today's watch has a touch of steampunk about it (but no steam power or cogs)!
The watch itself is a basic quartz watch with a 3-hand dial. The interesting part is the design of the strap and the way the watch head is mounted to the strap. From the strap there are 4 plastic arms (2 on each end) which are connected to the leather strap with a screw and bolt arrangement. At then end of each arm is a spring which connects to a mount on the side of the watch head. The spring connection and the side-to-side movement of the arms means that the watch head can move about and conform easily to the shape of your wrist. There are also more springs fastened to the strap (for cosmetic reasons only) adding to the steampunk feeling.
The watch is made by Belami. Belami is a trademark of the Empire Trading Kabushiki Kaisha company from Tokyo, Japan. The company trademark was filed in 1983 and cancelled in 2003, meaning that the watch is most likely from the 80s or 90s.
